Privacy-First Analytics
This analytics dashboard is generated from server logs without using cookies or client-side tracking. Visitor identification uses weekly-rotating anonymized hashes — raw IP addresses are replaced at ingestion and original logs are deleted after 30 days. No personally identifiable information is stored or transmitted to third parties.
Technical Implementation Details
Data Sources: CloudFront access logs (sanitized — IPs are replaced by weekly-rotating hashes at ingestion), webmentions, newsletter aggregates, and the published content itself (cadence)
Bot Filtering: Automated detection and exclusion of bot traffic
Content Filtering: Only blog posts and pages are counted (excludes static assets)
Privacy Protection: No cookies, no client-side tracking; raw logs are deleted after 30 days
Update Frequency: Regenerated nightly by a serverless pipeline (Step Functions + Athena); webmentions refresh hourly
Charting Library: uPlot for the trend charts; inline SVG sparklines on the vitals
