Hi, my name is Constantin Gonzalez and this is my blog.

You can find a lot of information on me by asking Google, Yahoo or another search engine of your choice.

My current home is in Munich, Germany. I live here with my wife Friederike and my daughters Amanda and Helena.

I'm a Principal Field Technologist at Sun Microsystems, Germany where I provide pre-sales technical expertise to Sun's research & education customers in southern Germany. I also help out with other customer projects in Germany and occasionally Europe or world-wide.

Technologies I'm usually associated with include: UltraSPARC CPUs and Systems, Solaris and OpenSolaris, Grid Computing and HPC, Web 2.0 and Cloud Computing, Digital Media.

Together with Wolfgang Stief, I manage the Munich Opensolaris User's Group (MUCOSUG). We meet every month and you're welcome to join us. I'm also a member of the German Unix User's Group (GUUG) and the Foresight Institute.

You can hear me (in German) regularly on the HELDENFunk, a podcast for system adminstrators. There are also a couple of videos of me presenting about stuff on different websites. Ask your favourite search engine.

Interests and Hobbies

Music (Electronic, EBM, Futurepop, Alternative, Metal, Jazz, Classic, check my profile), Podcasting, Technology, Ebooks, Augmented Reality, Robotics, MEMS, The Singularity. Occasionally, I'm learning to play the guitar or keyboards, I try not to suck at photography and my wife tells me I'm a good cook.

Born June 23rd, 1971 in Bonn-Bad Godesberg, grew up in Bogotá (Colombia), Istanbul (Turkey), Bonn-Bad Godesberg (Germany), Rome (Italy). According to Wikipedia, that makes me a Third Culture Kid. Finished a masters degree at the Clausthal University of Technology in Computer Science (It's technically a "Diplom Informatiker" degree, back then, they didn't call it a "Master", but the rest of the world accepted it as such). During my university time, I was CEO of a pub, played a role in a theater, helped publish a newspaper and showed movies in the local theater. My thesis was around helping create the first web-enabled digital set top box project in Germany. That was 1997-98. Since 1998 I'm working at Sun where I get to learn about exciting technology every day.
